Beyond AODA Compliance: Disability Inclusive Hiring

The Beyond AODA Compliance project is unique.

Through this project, ODEN has been increasing awareness of AODA reporting requirements, dispelling regulatory myths, and helping businesses with one or more employees move from a standards-based compliance approach to a place of voluntary compliance and heightened awareness of the business and social/community benefits of having a genuine culture of accessibility and inclusion.

The project has explored employment barriers faced by people who have a disability, as identified by people who have a disability, and focus on how they experience those barriers. This has been done via environmental scanning of current research data as well as through ODEN’s own survey of the disability community.
